Yahoo® was still in it's early days and they had a forum called "Yahoo Christian Chat" where I liked to hang out.
(extra points if you just said, "I hear a story coming on")

I was a single dad then with two young sons. Social life was nada because there wasn't enough time in the day. Full time work (sometimes more than 50 hours per week) and it was nice to find a moment or two after the kids went to bed that were just for me. So there I was, evening time and just talking about everything and anything with other Christians. I wasn't called "Grandpa" yet but was known as Sparrow404. It was a chat board so it took a little skill to read because all the updates to the chatroom were real time. A little chaotic for my tastes now, but fun for me then.

Apart from any private conversations (sometimes had 4 or 5 privates going on) I would post in the main thread and just play with friends. Those were innocent days for me but the web was still pretty much in the rough and wooly stage. My chat was set to notify any time somebody would enter the room and I used to enjoy greeting people upon entrance.

"Hey, LadyBird, nice 2cu"

The other thing I enjoyed was "singing" and mostly what I'd do was put on a Christian CD and type out the verses to the songs into the main chat. Others who knew the words would type along and sometimes we'd have 'harmonies' going. Are you bored to tears yet? Sorry this. It was interesting to me, especially then. One of my friends was "BloodWulf666" and he was always respectful while in Christian chat but he was a Luciferian. We'd get all kinds of visitors from other chatrooms but pretty much stuck to ourselves.

So there I was, fairly busy when my "Room Entry Notice" went off and I found myself typing:
Sparrow404: Greetings, My_pink_panties.
Sparrow404: Hiya, Histurite.

A single moment passed and I imagined the room collectively held their breath. Then:

Guttenberg1434: Wrong room.
