well... cos cleric, has a tier of skills, that will have alot more benefits when u don light armour.... think is glory armour and stuff like that.... dont really know the exact details, but it does give bonus defence and even bonuses in buffs made on them i think.

because, if u were to be a warrior and have cleric as sub, u would want the most out of both classes. that would be light armor because garment has fast running. warriors have strong armor.
so ovveral light armor is the one in between.
thats whhy light armor would be a good choice

Well a Full STR blader wears Garment, and seing as dual axe has around the same defence as a blader, i see no reason why when you're at a low level wear armour, then as you get higher use Garment.
+ You'll have a buffer anyhows so it doesn't really matter.

Stick with armor. Your a Euro not chinese so even if your wearing garmets chances are nukers will still take you down easily, its not worth it.

Personally for grinding purposes I would go with garment just for the speed increase. For pvp who knows? That will be up to you. Most people don't know what to do about pvp yet, since most opponents are still chinese builds.

There is no better choice than that.

Cleric passive goes away once you switch to another weapon
