Tap up, down when he's half way back (between the half and the spot where you hit for a pangya)

Yeah it looks lame, but tap up, down on the blue part. And you need a powershot (red potion from item or use alt if your red bar is filled (you fill it by hitting pangya's IIRC)) and a pangya in order to execute a tomahawk.
